Dr. Rohan Nanda has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in Data Science for Law with a joint position at the Maastricht Law and Tech Lab of the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Data Science. His research interests include legal informatics, natural language processing, and applied Data Science. He aims to teach and conduct innovative and interdisciplinary research in Artificial Intelligence and Law.
Before joining Maastricht University, he worked as an AI Specialist in the tourism industry in Florence, Italy. He earned a Joint International Ph.D. in Law, Science, and Technology and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the consortium of University of Luxembourg and the University of Bologna in March 2019. He has been a two-time recipient of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Fellowship awarded by the European Commission for Masters and Ph.D.
During the past few years, he was also a visiting researcher in Politecnico Di Milano (2014), IIIA-CSIC Barcelona (2016), University of Turin (2018) and Luleå University of Technology, Sweden (2015). He holds an Erasmus Mundus Masters in Pervasive Computing & Communications for sustainable development (PERCCOM) coordinated by the University of Lorraine, France.
