Ylana Sour (19) wist al halverwege de middelbare school dat ze later kinderarts wil worden. “Toen ik zelf een jaar of drie à vier was, had ik een slechte ervaring met een arts. Ik hoop later als arts te laten zien dat het ook anders kan.” Ylana zit nu in het eerste jaar van de studie Geneeskunde. Ze is de allereerste die studeert binnen haar familie. “Als je erover nadenkt, is dat wel bijzonder. ‘Eindelijk iemand die dokter wordt’, roept mijn moeder bijna dagelijks. Daar kan ik wel om lachen.”
