… | Lezing, Engelstalig 18 november 2019 20:00 - 18 november 2019 21:45 Follow the Money is a journalistic platform with a crystal clear goal: finding truth at the service of society. It conducts research into people, systems and organisations that misbehave (financially and economically) and thereby possibly cause damage to groups in society. Its weapon: radically independent investigative journalism. Whether it concerns healthcare, the financial world or politics; if you follow the money trail you will discover the truth. Thomas Bollen (1984) works as a journalist for Follow the Money . He is a financial economist specialised in monetary policy and the banking sector. After working as a consultant in the corporate sector he made a career switch to journalism. This lecture is organised in cooperation with the university newspaper Observant as part of a series of events to celebrate their 40 th anniversary. Against Hate
… 20:00 Racism, fanaticism, anti-democratic sentiment – our increasingly polarised world is dominated by a type of thinking that questions the positions of others, but never its own. The “others” are not perceived as individuals, but as members of a group that must be rejected: the foreigners, the refugees, the Muslims, the Jews, the disbelievers, the homosexuals, etc. In this lecture, Emcke will show that we can stand up against this dogmatic thinking of hate and successfully combat religious and nationalist fanatics. A lecture for everyone who wants to defend an open society. … formerly honoured authors like Svetlana Alexievich, Orhan Pamuk and Susan Sontag.
