Joana Wensing (J.W.)
Joana Wensing is Assistant Professor at the Maastricht Sustainability Institute exploring the behavioral foundations of sustainability transitions. Her current research aims to answer the following questions:
- In which situations do individuals opt for vegetarian meals?
- What motivates individuals to engage in circular food behaviors?
- How do psychedelic experiences influence sustainable behavior?
- What types of shared living spaces are people most open to?
- How can we achieve a system-wide transition towards making consumer electronics more repairable?
Her work is inspired by theories from environmental psychology, behavioral economics and system dynamics using methods such as discrete choice experiments, momentary ecological assessment studies, systems modeling and recently also agent-based modeling.
She studied Business Psychology at the University of Bremen and obtained a PhD in Food and Agricultural Economics at the University of Bonn. After completing her Postdoctoral position with the Urban Economics Group at Wageningen University, she continues to work there one day a week on the EU Horizon project, Bin2Bean.
