Vincent van de Ven (V.G.)

I am interested in how we (humans) memorize our experiences of the world and use them to predict what will happen next. We memorize unique and self-relevant experiences within some context, such as place (where did something happen), source (who said what) and time (when did something happen). We use our context-dependent memories to predict future events or to make decisions when facing some degree of uncertainty. To investigate the role of context (or the absence thereof) in memory In my research, I use behavioral paradigms in combination with various (neuro)scientific tools, such as FMRI, EEG, non-invasive brain stimulation and virtual reality. You can find more about my research here and here. I also like to give public lectures about neuroscience research on memory. For more information on my research, please feel free to contact me.
