Green Dot

No one has to do everything. Everyone has to do something.

Green Dot is a university-wide, evidence-based bystander intervention developed to reduce the incidence of sexual violence. Using the simple yet powerful metaphor of the Green Dot, these workshops provide a shared language and framework for initiating cultural change to prevent sexual violence within the university community and beyond.

Through engaging workshops, participants will learn how to recognise concerning behaviours and effectively intervene as bystanders. The session will also cover strategies for strengthening positive university norms and promoting a safer environment for all. These valuable skills are not only applicable to preventing sexual violence but can also be used to address other forms of discrimination and violence. Therefore, Green Dot also contributes to the prevention of other social safety issues.

Green Dot

Our workshops are provided by fifteen certified instructors from across Maastricht University, available in both Dutch and English, and tailored for students and staff. Each 1.5-hour session is followed by a booster activity to reinforce the message.

We will also be conducting research to evaluate the effect of the intervention, the implementation process, and to further tailor Green Dot to the context of the Netherlands and Maastricht University.

We are building a safer university. Be a part of it.
