Guest Lecture “Behaviour sciences and public policy: energy transition” on 8 February 2024

Melissa Degen and Paul Barker from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations will give a guest lecture on the topic “Behaviour sciences and public policy: energy transition” on 8 February 2024.

Abstract: How do people experience retrofitting their home for a more sustainable and more comfortable house? What are the perceived barriers and motivational reasons to do so? And how do we create policy that helps people take this step? Paul Barker and Melissa Degen work at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations as policy makers and behaviour experts. With their knowledge of behaviour science they improve the policy of energy transition in the Netherlands. In this interactive lecture we will talk about the daily work environment at the ministry, current topics (e.g. tackling energy poverty, improving affordability of the transition, etc.) and the behavioural science approaches used to tackle them.
