Circular Plastics
Circular Plastics focuses on polymer engineering and science to improve the recycling of plastics, with an emphasis on mechanical recycling. Scientifically, we investigate polymers from macromolecular interactions up to macroscopic behavior in both liquid and solid states to identify where and how recycled plastics can be enhanced.
Physical Chemistry
In the Physical Chemistry Laboratory, we use physical chemical principles to advance existing processes towards sustainability. Overall we try to relate measurable physical properties of materials, to molecular properties of the starting components, and use these to an advantage.
Plasma Chemistry
Plasma technology is a potential game changer for the energy transition in the chemical industry. Traditionally, high temperature industrial processes are powered by combustion of fossil fuels - this is not sustainable in a low-CO2 emissions world.
Chemical Recycling
The Chemical Recycling Group focuses on the development of sustainable processes for the conversion of complex feedstocks, such as plastics waste. We develop thermochemical and catalytic processes that allow their conversion and improve plastics circularity, investigating aspects such as components interaction, role of contaminants, and process upscaling.
