M. Esposito
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Maastricht University Institute of Data Science (IDS), supervised by Prof. Michel Dumontier. My academic foundation is in biomedical engineering (BSc, MSc), followed by a Ph.D. at Maastricht University under the mentorship of Prof. Elia Formisano. During my doctoral work, I investigated how deep neural networks can model complex auditory processing by drawing insights from empirical neuroscience data. Currently, I contribute to the ARPA-H CHARM project led by Prof. Matt Might (University of Alabama at Birmingham), focusing on synthetic data generation.
I strongly believe that neuroscience and computer science are complementary fields with immense potential for mutual enrichment, allowing each to inform the other for more grounded AI solutions and deeper insights into how our brains process sound.
