Change of residence permit
If you have a valid residence permit but have changed the purpose of your stay in the Netherlands (for instance, if you change from being an unpaid employee to a paid employee, or in most cases even if you change employers), a new residence permit must be applied for.
KCIS will apply for the new residence permits for its international employees as soon as all the required documents are ready. In most cases, this includes the new employment contract. KCIS will inform you as soon as the new residence permit will be applied for.
KCIS will in most cases make an appointment for you with the office of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) in. There you will receive a sticker in your passport proving that you are in the process of obtaining a new residence permit. Note that if you are not a national from an EU/EEA country, the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand or Australia, you will need either a valid residence permit or a return visa before you can travel abroad and then return to the Netherlands.
