Multi-Speed Europe, Differentiated Integration and The Future of the European Union

The seminar will feature a presentation on the Brexit negotiation directive by new Assistant professor in European Law Natassa Athanasiadou and a presentation on the Opinion rendered by the Court of Justice on the EU-Singapore trade agreement by Andrea Ott.

The seminar will feature presentations of two new Assistant Professors of European Law, Diane Fromage and Natassa Athanasiadou.

The seminar will feature Marijn Van Der Sluis, Lecturer at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, presenting on “In Law We Trust: the role of EU constitutional law in the euro.”

The seminar will feature a case law discussion by Annalisa Volpato (PhD candidate). The case at stake is C-613/14, James Elliott Construction Limited v Irish Asphalt Limited, EU:C:2016:821. Mariolina Eliantonio will act as a discussant.

The last MCEL seminar of the academic year 2015-2016 will take place on the 21th June from 15.00-17.00. MCEL member Dr. Evangelia Psychogiopoulou will present on the cultural method of coordination, which will be followed with comments by Kate Mattocks.

Members of the MCEL PhD forum will meet for a lunch seminar (12.00-13.30) in the garden of the Faculty of Law to discuss recent legal developments in EU law as well as plans for next year.

The next MCEL seminar will feature Professor Dr Sacha GARBEN’s presentation entitled: ”balancing ‘the market’ and ‘the social’ in the European Union: critical reflections and proposals for change”.
