Michael Nickenig, MA Modern Political Culture
Michael, 23, is from Germany and has a bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Maastricht University.
‘’I decided to study the MA Modern Political Culture (MPC), because of its interdisciplinary approach combining the fields of political science, history and political philosophy. Since I really like reading about these topics in my free time and due to my previous experience in Maastricht, the decision to study MPC was an easy one.
While studying MPC I was able to take a step forward regarding my academic knowledge in the fields of political science, history and political philosophy, but also with regards to qualitative research methods.
The small groups during the PBL sessions allowed us to have in-depth and highly thought-provoking discussions in class. Generally, studying the MPC program was a great experience due to the diverse topics that we dealt with in an interdisciplinary way.
What I liked the most about Maastricht as a city is that it feels a bit like a village where you quickly get to know people while there are also many options for cultural activities or going out.’’
