“Time dependent verification of dynamic external beam radiotherapy”

Modern radiation treatments to cure cancer have evolved to become complex, dynamic, fast, and intense. The old, widely used, methods to check how accurately the therapy went are insufficient for these new treatments as they ignore time, meaning some patients may be mistreated. This is bad for current patients as their cancer may not be controlled and it is bad for future patients as we cannot improve treatments if we don’t know why some are less effective. This thesis shows how and why radiation treatments could and should be verified in a time dependent way, resulting in better patient treatments.
