Women's Human Rights in Afghanistan
Women’s rights and human rights advocate Sima Samar will give a picture of Afghanistan today, in contrast to 14 years ago under the Taliban government, when Afghan women were subjected to systematic discrimination and brutal, inhuman treatment by the government.
Now, Afghan women can receive an education, hold high offices and occupy leading positions as cabinet ministers, diplomats, NGO leaders, artists and representatives in elected bodies.
Tonight, Sima Samar will show that we have to work hard to make Afghanistan a safer place for every citizen to live with dignity and rights. Improving women's rights in Afghanistan will have strong impact on the situation of female global bodies around the world.
