INKOM 2019: The Moment is Yours

INKOM 2019 takes place from Monday August 19 until Friday August 23. During INKOM new students can participate in various activities, including workshops, city walks, a festival and work-outs at the University Sports Center (USC). On Tuesday and Friday the programme ends with a party in the MECC, where artists such as Kris Kross Amsterdam and Lucas & Steve will perform.

Meet the city and each other
At INKOM Monday students get the opportunity to get to know the city and each other. An information market takes place during the afternoon. Students have dinner with their mentors at one of the many associations offering a meal. During the evening INKOM’s official opening happens with performances by the Grote Vriendelijke Reus, The Shakin’DJs from Limburg, the Hottub Heroes and Billy the Kit.

Various activities
Tuesday starts with an active workout and a city walk. Various activities are hosted at the Tapijn, including games focussing upon awareness about socially responsible subjects. The Dutch Moment focusses upon a proper integration in the Netherlands and a Student Debate will also be hosted, led by Rector Rianne Letschert.  Student associations will present themselves during the Festival while enjoying music and drinks. The evening programme consists of Tasty Maastricht, where local restaurants offer a meal for only 7 euros, combined with a visit to Comedy Night at the Maastricht Conservatory. There is a traditional MECC Tuesday Party. This year DJ WATRO, Team T.N.T., The Boy Next Door, Sophie Francis and Kris Kross Amsterdam will perform.

Sports and Cantus
Wednesday starts with the SportsEvent at the Griend. The students are introduced to the many sports associations and participate in the activities these associations are offering. A barbecue at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Wal happens afterwards, until they end up next at the Cantus at the MECC (18+ only). There is a movie and a Roller-skate Disco for those students not able to go to the Cantus.

Maastricht is Yours
Thursday’s INKOM is all about Maastricht is Yours. Trashless Thursday, among other things, will be introduced. It is a day where we, among other things, want to limit the amount of trash as much as we can, by using hardcups, a ban on flyers and offering a vegetarian meal.  The Geusseltbad will be named Aqua Lounge for this occasion. A separate event is hosted for the Master students  on this day, consisting of several workshops, and ending with a dinner. The Maastricht cultural institutions introduce themselves during Night at the Museum, which takes place at the Bonnefanten Museum.

Final MECC party
Friday is INKOM 2019’s last day. Like Tuesday and Thursday students are offered a workout at the University Sports Center in the morning. Next follows a College Tour Maastricht with several useful workshops aimed at study skills. During the afternoon students are able to choose again between different activities and have a meal at the food truck festival Meals on Wheels at the OLV-Wal, followed by an Open Air Cinema. INKOM 2019: The Moment is Yours ends with a huge party at the MECC with performances by Lucas & Steve, Bands with Benefits and DJ Admin.
