Helen Mertens new President Executive Board Maastricht UMC+
Dr. Helen Mertens will be the new President of the Executive Board of the Maastricht UMC+. She will succeed prof. dr. Marja van Dieijen-Visser, who will retire in June. Van Dieijen-Visser has served the Executive Board over 7 years of which more than 5 years as a President.
Mertens, an obstetrician, has been a member of the Executive Board of the Maastricht UMC+ since 2017. According to the Supervisory Board she will be able to realise the ambitions of the Maastricht UMC+ as no other, due to her professional expertise and experience as a board member, combined with her clear vision and a large amount of empathy. After an extensive selection procedure and taking into account the positive advises of the representative advisory body, the Supervisory Board has unanimous selected Helen Mertens.
Given the special circumstances due to the corona-crisis, the date of transfer will be determined in joint consultation and depending on the developments but not later than 1 October 2020.
