Mira Seyfettinogly, MSc European Studies

Mira Seyfettinogly is from Germany (with Turkish roots), she obtained a bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Maastricht University and decided to stay in Maastricht for the research master’s programme in European Studies.

“Writing my bachelor’s thesis was actually a turning point for me. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to embrace my newly-found passion for research and continue with this research master’s programme. This decision also enabled me to continue with the project Citizenship by Investments – the topic of my bachelor’s thesis – I was working on with my supervising professor. Next year, I will be supervising a group of bachelor’s students assigned to our project as part of their Honours Programme. I’m really looking forward to that.  This programme is really small-scale with 13 students with different academic backgrounds, ranging from Anthropology to Business Administration. There is a real individual approach and personal atmosphere.  After I graduate, my aim is to work in the diplomatic field for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs but I can also see myself in Brussels, working in one of the external relations departments of the European Commission.”
