Seminar ‘Islam and Diversity’
In collaboration with the Netherlands Interuniversity School for Islamic Studies (NISIS), Maastricht University will host a one-day seminar titled ‘Islam and Diversity’ to bring together distinguished scholars, and PhD and master’s students who work on topics related to Islam and Muslim societies.
The seminar is organized annually by NISIS for PhD students and research master students in the Netherlands to offer young researchers a platform where they can test and improve their research and methodological skills, meet researchers from other disciplines with a perspective to stimulate participation in the current academic debate in Islam-related field.
This year’s seminar will be held at Maastricht University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) and Faculty of Law (FdR) on Friday January 17, 2020. Theme of the Seminar will be Islam and Diversity, divided into three subthemes, representing various disciplines: Law, Civil Society, and Gender & Diversity. Two distinguished scholars will hold a lecture, followed by workshops where researchers will present their research and will get feedback from senior researchers and other participants.

The seminar is to discuss the evolving role of principles in EU environmental law. It will examine how different principles evolve and operate together, in order to identify the foundational roles they play in the achievement of the Treaty objective of a high level of environmental protection.
