MaasX Student Debate

Municipal council elections will be held in the Netherlands on 21 March. If you are registered with the municipality of Maastricht, you will have received a voting card, enabling you to cast your vote on polling day. Do you know who to vote for?

On Monday 12 March the MaasX Student Debate will take place, providing information about the different manifestoes and political promises of the political parties taking part in the Maastricht municipal elections. The debate is organised by the Maastricht Student Council. In other words: by students for students. Ten of the fourteen parties participating in the Maastricht municipal elections, including the recently established youth and student party, have agreed to join the debate.

UM Rector Rianne Letschert will open the debate, which will deal with various themes, including housing and student housing quotas, the knowledge-based economy, sustainability and polarisation in urban areas. Teun Dekker and Arie van der Lugt will moderate proceedings.

MaasX is a collaboration between JONGR., Kaleido, MSR en Starters Valley. More about MaasX on the website.

The MaasX Student Debate will be held in the lecture hall of the School of Business and Economics (SBE) on Monday 12 March. Doors open at 19.30. The debate starts at 20.00.

Check the Stemwijzer voting guide if you’d like to know - before the debate starts - where the political parties stand on key issues. Enter your opinion (agree, disagree, don’t know) in response to 30 propositions and see which political party matches your viewpoints.
