Die andere Heimat - Avant-première

In the mid-19th century, hundreds of thousands of Europeans emigrated to South America. It was a desperate bid to escape the famine, poverty and despotism that ruled at home. Their motto was: "Any fate is better than death”.

Die andere Heimat is a domestic drama and love story set against the backdrop of this forgotten tragedy. Though related in several ways to the famous Heimat television series, this beautifully shot black-and-white feature film is accessible to those unfamiliar with Edgar Reitz’s previous work.

The movie takes 225 minutes!
