Canvas

Canvas is Maastricht University's online learning environment.

In mid-August, you will receive an email with login details for Canvas, which will give you access to the full programme and all the information you need to prepare for Faculty Introduction.

You will be working often in Canvas during your studies, as each course of the UM curriculum has its own page in Canvas where content is made available and communication and collaboration is facilitated. In addition, Canvas allows for tests, submission of papers, originality check on papers, discussion forums and so on.

The faculty introduction is a great opportunity to get used to working in Canvas. During this week, you will also learn how Canvas works.

New-B

Starting your studies at university, especially at law school, can feel quite daunting. That's why we have developed New-B, a compilation of online modules designed to prepare you for classes and acquaint you with legal terminology and traditions before the academic year begins. New-B serves as an excellent start to your legal education and provides you with the core knowledge you need to succeed.

We’ve gathered a lot of information for you in this online course and it is not our intention to overwhelm you before you formally start your bachelor studies. These modules are designed to give you a preview of what to expect once your classes start and to provide guidance on studying law in a problem-based learning environment. We invite you to explore and engage with New-B at your own pace over the summer, in a way that suits you best.

You will automatically be added to the New-B environment in Canvas within one to two weeks after you complete the Faculty Introduction registration form. Your attendance at the introduction week is not necessary for this process.
