*CANCELLED* Jean Monnet Lecture by Virginijus Sinkevičius
The 3rd Jean Monnet Lecture is planned to take place at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and is given by Virginijus Sinkevičius, EU Commissioner for Environment and Oceans. The lecture will be followed by a debate session.
In 2016, Sinkevičius was elected to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania; he was then appointed Chair of the Committee on Economics; on 27 November 2017, he was appointed Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania and, following the reorganisation of the Ministry of Economy, he became Minister of the Economy and Innovation. On 22 August 2019, The Lithuanian parliament approved his nomination for European commissioner. Sinkevičius holds an MA in European Studies from Maastricht University.
