The Maastricht Centre for the Innovation of Classical Music hosted the workshop ‘Digital tech meets classical music’ together with The Plant at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences on 30 May 2024. Participants included researchers and students from FASoS, teachers from Conservatorium Maastricht and Zuyd University as well as MCICM researchers.

Emily O'Reilly bekleedt al meer dan tien jaar de functie van EU-ombudsman. Ze zorgt voor transparantie van de EU-instellingen door opvallende gevallen van wanbeheer te onderzoeken en goed bestuur te bevorderen. Op 20 juni 2024 gaf ze een keynote toespraak op de conferentie "Between narratives and reality: The EU at the gates of a new mandate," georganiseerd door de Faculteit der Rechtsgeleerdheid en Studio Europa Maastricht van de Universiteit Maastricht. De ombudsman ging in op de meest zorgwekkende onderwerpen in de context van de recente verkiezingen voor het Europees Parlement, en onderzocht wat de uitslag van deze stemmingen aangeeft en hoe de strijd tussen pro-EU en anti-EU visies de toekomst van de alliantie zal beïnvloeden. In haar interview met Studio Europa legde mevrouw O'Reilly uit waarom ze nog steeds gelooft in de erfenis van het Verdrag van Maastricht en hoe ze de belangrijkste taak van haar ambt ziet.

Emily O’Reilly has held the position of EU Ombudsman for over a decade, ensuring the transparency of the EU institutions by investigating high-profile cases of maladministration and promoting good governance. On June 20, 2024, she gave a keynote address at the conference “Between narratives and reality: The EU at the gates of a new mandate,” organized by The Faculty of Law and Studio Europa Maastricht of Maastricht University. The ombudsman touched on the most concerning topics in the context of the recent EU Parliament elections, exploring what the outcomes of these votes indicate and how the battle of pro-EU and anti-EU visions will impact the future of the alliance. In her interview with Studio Europa Mrs. O’Reilly explained why she still believes in the legacy of the Maastricht Treaty, and how she views the main task of her office.
