If you as a student are confronted with undesirable behaviour, an open conversation with the other party may be enough. If that does not help, or you would rather not do that, then you can turn to the confidential adviser for students. If you want to submit an official complaint then you can do that at the Complaints Service Point (CSP).
Undesirable behaviour is behaviour where somebody harms your personal integrity. Examples of this are: sexual intimidation, aggression and violence or bullying. But it also includes abuse of power, unfair treatment or discrimination. It can be expressed in many forms: verbal and non-verbal, physical, digital, by phone or for example via chatting, text messages, WhatsApp or on social media.
It is important that you file an objection, appeal or complaint to the Complaints Service Point (CSP) on time. If you do not do this, your objection, appeal or complaint will be declared inadmissible.
As a student you help improve the facilities and policies of Maastricht University. Input and feedback from students is vital for improving education as well as everyday life in and around the university.
The Student Project Team (SPT) is a group of four students tasked with ensuring the university services are student-friendly. They work as a body under the Student Services Centre (SSC), advise university departments on their projects and organise their own projects and events.
The Student Panel provides the Student Project Team (SPT) and UM departments with students’ perspectives about the happenings at UM. What is going well and what can be improved? The main purpose of the student panel is to provide UM students with the opportunity to get involved in discussions about UM-related issues and share thoughts on UM-related subjects, with the aim of using students’ feedback to better these issues. For example, as a kind of appraiser, the members of the Student Panels are involved in the review and development of the student portal.
The student monitor is an (in-depth) satisfaction survey among UM students who have applied for the monitor. With this, students indicate what they think of UM facilities and services. The UM uses the monitor to measure what students think of UM facilities and services. This input is indispensable in order to improve facilities and policy at the UM. The monitor covers specific subjects, such as the human resources, catering facilities and cleaning.
