Lecture on the Female Gaze in Film
In this next webinar writer and film critic Basje Boer will open our eyes to the female gaze in film. Via clips ranging from Hitchcock's voyeuristic masterpiece VERTIGO to the eternally entertaining BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, and from indie-darling GARDEN STATE to Claire Denis' contemplation on the destructivity of masculinity BEAU TRAVAIL, Basje will elaborate on the female perspective in film as we (think we) know it. What is the male gaze? What, then, is the anti-male gaze? And what could the female gaze possibly be?
