Goossens "Tissue oxygenation in human obesity; role in adipose Tissue dysfunction and metabolic health" The number of people who are overweight or obese is on the rise. Obesity is the most important risk factor for the … fat than in thigh fat and that oxygen in abdominal fat is indeed related to insulin resistance. Finally, we examined whether reducing the amount of oxygen in abdominal fat and the skeletal muscles had a positive effect on cardiometabolic risk profile in obese men. The preliminary results show that a mild reduction in oxygen in the ambient air (15% oxygen; 7 days; 3 x 2 hours per day) reduces oxygen saturation and oxygen content in abdominal fat and skeletal muscles and increases …

Aerts "Defining the biological and clinical basis of radiomics; towards clinical imaging biomarkers" Keywords: AI, cancer, precision medicine, big data, machine learning, radiomics, genomics, diagnostic, survival Artificial Intelligence is on the verge of gaining a seminal role in advanced medicine. This brings new hope for modern cancer care, where success of treatment often depends on identifying targeted therapies that match a patient’s disease profile. In this dissertation, for the first time radiographic, biological, and clinical data were integrated to develop intelligent models that can predict which patients will respond better to a specific therapy. Based on the results of this …

… 24 mei 2019 Zoekresultaten This year, for the first time, two TEFAF Fellowships are awarded to PhD students from GROW (School for Oncology and Developmental Biology at Maastricht UMC+). Femke Ehlers and Nicky Beelen will have the opportunity to perform part of their research in the … the natural killer (NK) cell-breast cancer cell interaction using state-of-the-art imaging techniques in order to develop clinically effective NK cell therapy for breast cancer. Nicky Beelen will visit the group of Prof. Coussens for 12 months to profile the immune cell repertoire in breast cancer and to study the cytotoxic versus pro-tumor functions of NK cells and the interactions with extracellular vesicles. Femke will leave for Oregon in September and Nicky will follow in January 2020. They …

Metzelthin Key words: home care payment, predictive client characteristics, nurse-sensitive outcomes of home care, … prospective payment of home care" A suitable payment system is necessary to provide efficient, high-quality care at home. Therefore, in 2017, the Dutch Healthcare Authority initiated a project to develop a new home care payment system based on client profiles. This means a budget per client is determined beforehand, which suits a client’s expected care use. To do so, insight is needed on which client characteristics can predict the expected home care use. This was studied in this dissertation, by …
