Rules of War

Rules of War is a report of the spectacular journey through the South Sudanese jungle by former diplomat and military expert Albert Schoneveld (50), who will teach war ethics on behalf of the Red Cross to rebel groups. On the one hand, the film shows how a Western ideal finds its way into the unruly African reality. On the other hand, it is a social deconstruction of a metaphorical encounter between two worlds. A clash between the west and Africa. Between white and black. Between a colonial history and a post-colonial perception.

After the movie, Wim Muller will give a short introduction on international humanitarian law and the role of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (ICRC). Albert Schoneveld will join him on stage for a discussion on Rules of War and his work for the ICRC.
