Recent breakthroughs in AI are having a profound impact on society. Postma gives an overview of AI and focuses on its current innovative core, called deep learning. The history of AI is outlined and the emergence of deep learning is explained. Several examples of applications will be demonstrated and the limitations and threats associated with AI will be highlighted.
