Dennis Soemers (D.J.N.J.)
Dennis Soemers (https://dennissoemers.github.io/) is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Maastricht University's Department of Advanced Computing Sciences (DACS). He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Maastricht University in 2023. Prior to that, he has researched applications of Reinforcement Learning in authentication and credit card fraud detection at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Dennis did a Research Internship at Facebook AI Research in Fall 2020. His primary research interests are Reinforcement Learning, Search algorithms, and AI in games.

Dennis received his B.Sc. and M.Sc degrees from Maastricht University's Department of Data Science and Knowledge Engineering, in 2014 and 2016, respectively. He spent two years doing research at the AI Lab of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (https://ai.vub.ac.be/), after which he returned to Maastricht for a position as Ph.D. candidate in the Digital Ludeme Project (http://www.ludeme.eu/). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2023, and is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher.
