Moving? Forward your new residential address

Are you a student at UM and planning on moving house? Please inform UM of your new address. How you do that depends on your situation. Procedures differ for students moving within the Netherlands, students moving to the Netherlands from abroad and students going abroad. Make sure to register with the municipality where you are going to live.

What you need to do depends on your situation:

A. You are moving within the Netherlands.
B. You are moving to the Netherlands from another country
C. You are moving from the Netherlands to an address abroad.

A. You are moving within the Netherlands

If you are moving within the Netherlands, you will need to notify the municipality. If you are moving to another municipality, you will have to notify the municipality in your new place of residence.

The municipality will update your information in the Municipal Personal Records Database (Basisregistratie personen, BRP). UM will receive your new address via the BRP.

It is your own responsibility to make sure the municipality always has your current address, so please keep it up to date.

Multiple addresses
It is possible to enter multiple addresses in Studielink, e.g. your parents' address, correspondence address and an emergency address. Please make sure all these addresses are correct! You can update this information yourself via Studielink .

B. You are moving to the Netherlands from another country

Are you moving from abroad to an address in the Netherlands, and planning to stay longer than four months? If so, you need to be registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database (Basisregistratie personen, BRP). You can do this in the municipality where you intend to live.

Registering with the municipality

To register in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) you can fill out a form on the website of the municipality of Maastricht.

C. You are moving from the Netherlands to an address abroad

If you are moving to another country you must deregister in the Netherlands from the municipality from which you are leaving. Only do this if you are expecting to spend at least eight out of twelve months abroad. This need not be eight consecutive months. The municipality informs DUO and other offices linked to the BRP of your new address abroad.

You can deregister from the municipality online  .
