Half of adults still overweight, despite the Prevention Agreement
Half of the adults in the Netherlands were overweight last year, which is the same as when the National Prevention Agreement was introduced in 2018. The aim of this is, among other things, to combat excess kilos.
According to Onno van Schayck, professor of Preventive Medicine at Maastricht University, the corona pandemic has had an impact. Van Schayck is part of a monitoring committee that was set up by RIVM at the request of the Ministry of Health. "The first evaluation showed that there are many agreements that have not yet been fulfilled due to corona and the exceptional circumstances that arose as a result," he says.
