Vacancy for a student assistant

UM’s Diversity & Inclusivity (D&I) Office is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated student to assist with its activities. If you are interested in shaping conversations about diversity, inclusion and belonging at UM, this might be the job for you.

Currently, we have one position available for the D&I Office’s general tasks and assignments. You will be working in a team composed of people with diverse backgrounds.

What are you going to do?

As a student assistant, you will: 

  • Plan, create content, and manage posts of the D&I social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Collect content to update the English and Dutch websites  
  • Help organise events and a range of activities such as lectures and talks 
  • Write and format brochures and publications (e.g. D&I calendar) 
  • Collaborate with related organisations and departments (i.e. UM Social media team, Studium Generale, UM Pride, FEM) 
  • Assist with general office tasks such as processing emails, administrative task and promotional activities (e.g. distributing D&I calendars or paper pride flags)  

What do we require?

We seek a candidate with the following requirements: 

  • A proactive student with a strong interest in the agenda of Diversity & Inclusivity which can be demonstrated by reference to previous activities 
  • Currently enrolled at Maastricht University and available for at least 1,5 years  
  • You like to plan and have good organizational skills  
  • You are tech savvy, and have affinity with graphic design (e.g. Canva) 
  • Written and verbal communication skills in both English and Dutch are essential 
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams 

Note:

  • If you are a non-EU/EER student, you need a Dutch work permit (via UWV) 
  • Please note that you need a Dutch health insurance to be eligible to work in the Netherlands 

We welcome: 

  • Demonstrated interest in content creation, both written and visual 
  • Affinity related to web-editing and content creation (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, Canva) 
  • Affinity related to web applications (e.g. Qualtrics, Aanmelder, Google Forms) 
  • A working knowledge of Dutch (level B1minus/B2)  

What we offer: 

8-10 hours a week (2-3 half days per week) contracted by InterUM
Starting in June 2024 (negotiable to start later)
Salary scale 6 (CAO-UNL) as of €15,90 per hour
Holiday allowance and annual bonus
Flexibility accounting for your work-study schedule
A shared workplace at UM’s administration (MBB 4-6) combined with working from home 
A supportive working environment in which your tasks as a student assistant will be supervised and supported by the D&I Office.
