Diabetes researchers organise successful charity run for Diabetes Fund
A group of diabetes researchers from Maastricht University organised a charity run for the Dutch Diabetes Fund together with primary school de Spiegel in Maastricht, which was held last week Thursday. Thanks to the fund-raising efforts of the school, the parents and the children, who worked hard to recruit sponsors and ran with tireless enthusiasm, the charity run was able to collect over 2,400 euros. The entire amount will go to research on preventing and treating diabetes in the Netherlands.
The initiative comes from a group of 12 researchers from the departments of Human Biology and Movement Sciences at UM and Radiology at Maastricht UMC+.
DiaBeatit Run
On 10 October, the researchers themselves will also work up a sweat for the Diabetes Fund during the third edition of the DiaBeatit Run under the team name Science2diabeatit Maastricht. The route started with them braving the 589 steps of the Euromast in Rotterdam and, after an 84 kilometre relay race, finished in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. Want to sponsor them?
