In addition to Maastricht University medical students, other students use the facilities of the Skillslab as well. For example, we work together with the Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, where we provide training in various skills to the students of the master's in Advanced Nursing Practice. This two-year master's programme leads up to Nurse Practitioner combining work and study (dual learning). These students have a nursing background and different learning objectives than medical students, which requires a different approach. Together with the lecturers at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, a tailor-made programme is created containing individual learning objectives. Education in the Skillslab is a valuable addition for the students in training for Nurse Practitioner, who can often immediately apply the acquired skills in daily practice.

Both GGZ (mental healthcare) and AGZ (general health care) students follow training courses at the Skillslab during their two-year programme. The topics that are reviewed are heart/lungs, abdomen, neurology and the musculoskeletal system. During the repetition training there is room for further deepening, depending on the wishes of the students. In the second year there is the possibility to learn specific skills in addition to the basic programme. The students often participate in the regular courses for medical students. In addition to the skills, attention is also paid to interpreting findings in a context, and clinical reasoning. Naturally, the application of the skills in practise is discussed and evaluated during the training with the teacher.
