The exhibition shows the development of the Tapijnkazerne and its transformation from army green to UM green. It also introduces the public to the 100-year history of the Tapijnkazerne and its immediate surroundings. Dozens of unique and historic photographs, objects and military vehicles – many of which on loan from private collections – will give visitors a good impression of the former garrison town of Maastricht and the role of the Tapijnkazerne. The design for the future park and the UM buildings on the Tapijnkazerne grounds will also be on display during the exhibition.

Other activities
Visitors can also take a guided tour of the former barracks and other military buildings in Maastricht and on the Tapijnkazerne grounds (including the bunker). There will also be lectures on a range of topics, such as General Dibbets – a lieutenant that was reviled by some Maastricht locals. All of these activities are fee.

The exhibition was developed in collaboration with the Stichting Maastricht Vestingstad foundation, Maastricht University, Centre Ceramique, the Municipality of Maastricht and the Stichting Menno van Coehoorn foundation.
