Simon Beausaert (S.A.J.)

Simon Beausaert is full professor Learning and Development in Organisations at the Department for Educational Research and Development, School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands. He does research and has published various articles and book chapters on how to support lifelong learning and on how to set-up strategic human resource development policies to support work-related learning.

In 2008 Simon Beausaert obtained his Master’s degree in Educational Sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. One year earlier he joined the department Educational Research and Development of the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University as a junior researcher. In 2011 he finished a PhD research that focused on the use of Personal Development Plans (PDPs) in the workplace. Two years later he started a post-doc on the learning of aging employees, their employability and innovative working behaviour, which resulted in a tenure track of five years as assistant professor. He partly fulfilled his tenure track at the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve, where he was doing research on teacher professionalisation and teaching in the master Educational sciences. 

In the past he was the program coordinator of the Learning and Development in Organisations Master. He was also the coordinator of the SBE Learning Academy, responsible for supporting teachers' professional development and member of the management team of the educational institute. Next, he supervises different master and PhD students focusing on workplace learning, coaching, assessment, learning climate, leadership, employability, innovative work behaviour and well-being. He is often consulted by companies and schools for his expertise on strategic HRD and work-related learning.
