Soundcupboard installed in nursing homes

Jolien Makkinga (PhD, Meertens Institute) and Leonie Cornips (professor of Language Culture in Limburg) researched the impact of dialect on residents of a nursing home. It turns out that speaking dialect has a very positive influence.

An installation called Mia, which is a (sound)cupboard from which Limburgian words and sounds appear, has therefore been built. It is placed at a local nursing home for the residents to enjoy. A podcast about the research and outcomes of Mia is available online.

The information on Mia is only available in Dutch.
