Good vibes and positive reactions mark successful Bachelor’s Open Day
Saturday’s Bachelor's Open Day drew a turnout of 2393 prospective students across our six faculties. Feedback was generally very positive, reflecting the event's success.
Despite grey skies, the weather held up, providing a dry day for visitors to explore our buildings across the city without umbrellas. Inside, they delved into informative sessions covering our programmes, admissions process, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and student life in Maastricht.
Prospective students engaged with staff and current students, participating in Q&A sessions and connecting with our student ambassadors at information markets. Workshops, lab visits, and guided tours offered further insights into being a student at Maastricht University.
As usual, the majority of visitors were Dutch, with many others hopping over from neighbouring Germany and Belgium (together 20%). This time, Dutch prospective students received dedicated Dutch-language programme information.

Friendly atmosphere
Open days at Maastricht University offer a unique chance to explore academic options and soak up the atmosphere at our faculties.
Saturday's event passed off successfully; overall, visitor feedback was very positive, with an impressive average rating of 8.6.
Responses
“Nice balance between theory and practice,” were the words of one student, while another wrote, “Tutor was really nice and open. Atmosphere was amazing!”
Many visitors appreciated the input of current students in the presentations: “Loved the student, she really created a great atmosphere and I really got a great understanding of the PBL system.”
Of course, there was constructive criticism too: for instance, some visitors would have preferred to spend more time on PBL to experience how the education system exactly works in practice. Needless to say, we will take this feedback into account when preparing our next Bachelor’s Open Day scheduled for 12 October 2024.
