About IDS

The Institute of Data Science (IDS) was founded in 2017 by Distinguished Professor Dr. Michel Dumontier

The core of the institute's research and educational mission is to promote data science to accelerate discovery across the sciences and humanities and across sectors of society. It focuses particularly on responsible data science by design, which grows from (but is not limited to) Dr. Dumontier's work co-founding the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles.

IDS is part of the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences.
