Postponed: Is Open Science the Solution for the Replicability Crisis and Problems of Research Integrity?

Postponed to Wednesday 3 February 2021. In recent years, alarming messages about the poor reproducibility of research findings and breaches of research integrity appeared in the media. What exactly is the problem, what can we say about its causes, and are effective solutions at hand? I will argue that the recent awareness of some problematic aspects of the academic enterprise is a good thing, which should not lead to pessimism. In fact, it opens the road towards improvements and better understanding. More specifically, my lecture will explore what researchers, their institutions, scientific journals and funding agencies can do to make research more robust and trustworthy.

Organised in cooperation with the Platform of Research Ethics and Integrity (REI) of Maastricht University.
