Biomedical engineers are trying to contribute to diagnosis and decision making by using mathematical models that describe certain physiological phenomena on the basis of physical principles. Such applications require that the input for these models corresponds to the individual patient. This PhD dissertation introduces robust and efficient methods that can help in the personalisation of these kinds of mathematical models. The proposed methods are demonstrated in the personalisation of a model that can help to estimate the probability of a tear occurring in aneurysms in the brain.
