Grubb - Balkan music and theatre

Gypsy Roma Urban Balkan Beats (GRUBB) is an exciting theatre production created by Roma youngsters (aged 14-20) from Serbia, with support from international artists.

In GRUBB, traditional Roma music is used as the basis for today’s hiphop and rap. The performance addresses themes like friendship, first love, prejudices and the daily battle against poverty.

The show was conceived and directed by Canadian director Serge Denoncourt. GRUBB was initiated during music and dance workshops at the GRUBB School. It is the first production by a group of youngsters whose voices have never been heard before. It is performed by 25 artists, including a band, dancers, singers and rappers.
