In an increasingly interconnected digital landscape, brand protection has become an even more critical concern for businesses worldwide. This presentation will delve into the strategies and solutions necessary to safeguard a brand's reputation and value in the digital scene. The presentation will explore the challenges posed by constantly increasing online counterfeiting, trademark infringement, and unauthorized distribution of products.

Through real-world examples, this presentation will showcase the importance of proactive brand monitoring and enforcement. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the technologies and methodologies that enable the identification of unauthorized online activities across marketplaces, web shops, social media networks, app stores, NFT platforms and Web 3.0. Moreover, the presentation will highlight the multi-faceted approach required for effective brand protection. It will cover the legal, technological, and strategic aspects of enforcing brand rights, emphasizing the collaboration between Legal and Omni-Channel teams, online investigators and on the ground enforcement agencies.

Paolo Emilio Ascoli, LL.M. is an Italian Lawyer who specialized in Intellectual Property law. Graduated at the Università di Roma Tre in 2014, after two years of practice in Tax Law and a quick shift towards IP Law with an LL.M (Maastricht University – IPKM) and two years of practice in a boutique IP law firm in Rome, started his career in the field of Brand Protection in 2018. Starting from 2020, Paolo E. is now the head of the eCommerce department in Corsearch, focused on providing his clients with solutions surrounding the grey trade and unauthorized distribution of their products online. Leveraging Intellectual Property, Anti-trust and contractual violations, Paolo E. strives to make his clients regain control of their online space.

Chris Broekhuizen, LL.M is specialized in online brand protection, domain names and trademarks. Chris studied law at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) where he received his LL.M in Information Law in 2009. After working in general law practice, Chris joined the domain name dispute resolution section of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center in Geneva, Switzerland in 2011. Starting as an analyst at Pointer Brand Protection in 2015, Chris has over 8 years of experience in online brand protection. At Corsearch he now leads a team of client managers and delivers online brand protection services to some of the biggest brands in fashion, sports and entertainment.
