Canceled: Poetry Night with Buddy Wakefield

New Beginnings

The poetry night is postponed to a later date this year. This night, live poetry in all its amazing manifestations will hit the stage. Buddy Wakefield, the “most toured performance poet in history”, the one “who is not at all concerned with what poetry is or is not”, will deliver a raw, disarming performance of humour and heart. After his dazzling show, literary scholar Kila van der Starre will add a pinch of academia to tonight’s atmosphere by putting explication to the words. The poetry slam that follows will be contested by a best-of selection of slam poets who participated in the preliminary rounds & workshops at Kaleido in the run-up to this Poetry Night.

Buddy Wakefield is a three-time world champion spoken word artist featured on the BBC, HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, ABC Radio National. He won the first Individual World Poetry Slam Finals in 2004. Wakefield is based in Los Angeles.
Kila van der Starre is writing her PhD thesis on poetry off the page, including Instagram poetry, poetry in obituary notices and street poetry.

Organised by Huis voor de Kunsten Limburg, Kaleido, Letterkundig Centrum Limburg and Studium Generale.
