DRAPO

The proverbial splendor of Limburg's culture largely rests on the way cultural leisure associations publicly present themselves. At the forefront of this expression is the association banner. Whether it's a shooting club or a brass band, each association cherishes its flag or banner. It serves as their calling card in public spaces, often valuable and exquisitely designed. Additionally, it embodies the collective identity of the association and its continuity across generations. Anyone who has visited the Schutterijmuseum, Limburgs Museum, or Continuum Discovery Center knows the impressive impact of banners displayed in a public space. This experience is now accessible online (and for direct access to the database limburgsevaandels.nl). DRAPO is an ongoing project aimed at digitizing and unlocking association banners, a reflection of Limburg's society documented in collections from museums, archives, libraries, and associations. Members and partners of the Heritage Cooperative Limburg (CEL) are dedicated to preserving this rich assembly of publications and objects for the future. SHCL has taken the initial steps towards an innovative, digital infrastructure that enables offering the Limburg Collection in a linked, open, and enriched manner to the widest possible audience.
