Anna Ivanova, MA Media Studies: Digital Cultures

Anna is from Yoshkar-Ola, a city located east of Moscow, Russia. She has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). She decided to come to Maastricht for the master’s programme in Media Studies: Digital Cultures.

“In my bachelor’s studies, there was a lot of focus on economics, marketing, advertising and other such topics, which I found very interesting. I always knew I wanted to study abroad in an English-taught environment, preferably in Europe because of the high level of education. Friends of mine had studied at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and when I looked it up, I was immediately drawn to this master’s programme. The content of the programme in combination with the Problem-Based Learning system made me decide for Maastricht and not any other university. The scope for personal development is huge. I really enjoy it so far and the international character of the programme is fascinating, with 90% of the students coming from abroad. We have awesome discussions including different viewpoints.”
