UM team ended runner-up in the Grand Final of the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition

The team representing the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University ended runner-up in the Grand Final of the 12th edition of the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition, which took place on 31 May 2024 at the European Court of Human Rights. The team was composed of Ségolène Brigode, Nathalie Minc, Alysia Cloake, and Maximillian Strobel, and was coached by Šejla Imamovic and Valentina Golunova.

Nathalie Minc also earned an award for the Best Oralist in the Semi-Finals.

The competition started with over 60 teams representing universities from all over Europe, with 18 best teams going to Strasbourg. Earlier this year, the UM team won the regional round in Ankara, securing its place in the final rounds. By advancing to the Grand Final, the students had a unique opportunity to plead before the real judges of the European Court of Human Rights as well as renowned lawyers and human rights defenders working at the Council of Europe.
