Appointed as Professor "Antithrombotic therapy in cardiac catheter interventions" in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences

Dr Jurriën ten Berg has been appointed as personal professor of “Antithrombotic Therapy in Cardiac Catheter Interventions”. His research has been focused on optimal antithrombotic therapy in patients undergoing coronary and valve interventions i.e. PCI with stenting, TAVI, LA appendage closure, and ASD/PFO closure. His publications on personalized medicine in the field of antiplatelet therapy in TAVI and pharmacogenomics in PCI have changed international guidelines. “My ambition is to improve research in this field by combining the strength of fundamental research of CARIM and the renowned clinical implementation skills of the St. Antonius Hospital where I am an interventional cardiologist”. “It is fantastic to experience many new ideas for research from new colleagues at MUMC and CARIM”
