Ilaria Piovesan, MA European Public Affairs
Ilaria Piovesan is from Italy, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in European Law from Maastricht University and decided to stay in Maastricht for the master’s programme in European Public Affairs.
“I always wanted to study abroad, because I’m attracted to an international atmosphere. That’s why I looked at Maastricht University as my first choice. I knew someone from high school who was studying here and he also spoke very favourably about UM. During my bachelor in European Law I discovered that I was actually more interested in the policy-making side of law and started to look for a broader perspective on regulation and policy-making. In this particular master’s programme I found what I was looking for. Besides the thorough academic training we receive, we’re also trained as professionals with lots of practical skills. I’m really enjoying it, especially the guest lectures from people working at EU institutes. I’m also impressed by the friendliness and cooperative atmosphere here, even in contacts with distinguished professors from different faculties.”
