Marc Davidson holds an endowed professorship in Philosophy of sustainable development from a humanistic perspective at ICIS, Maastricht University. He is also VIDI-researcher and lecturer at the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA). He holds a PhD in both Physics and Philosophy from the UvA, and has worked at the economics department of the environmental policy consultancy CE Delft.

Marc Davidson works at the crossroad of ethics, economics and sustainability. Previous research focused on moral assumptions underlying cost-benefit analysis for climate policy, particularly moral assumptions underlying the discount rate. Present research focuses on economic instruments to protect global biodiversity and ecosystem services. He teaches courses in environmental ethics and economics.
